Watercolor?? No oil painting?

“Always Thinking” oil on canvas, Avs F. Reid (c) 2014

Why does it seem that watercolors have literally taken over the current art world?

Is it because they are considered faster to a finished product?

Is oil painting seen as too many steps and/or too archaic?

In any event, it seems impossible for this oil painter to produce as much work as the people with watercolors.  That seems to be what most of it is about, quantity — and let quality be in the eyes of the beholder.

Meanwhile, stretch another canvas … get out the gesso … and get to mix that wonderful mixture known as oil paints!
